Mesh Quality Improvement – CENTAUR Software

CENTAUR Mesh Quality Evaluation

This tool is used to evaluate the quality of a CENTAUR mesh to determine if the mesh is of sufficient quality for a particular solver. The types of quality measures that are employed are based on (i) element sizes, (ii) element shapes, and (iii) estimates of the numerical truncation error.

The locations of each bad element are identified and can easily be visualized alongside the geometry as shown below. Histograms of each quality measure can also be produced.

CENTAUR Tetrahedra Mesh Quality Improvement Tool

The quality of the tetrahedral part of the hybrid mesh can be improved based on the requirements of a specific solver. The process is user-guided and automatically improves the mesh according to the quality measures listed above.
