This geometry represents a sports coupe concept car design. This automobile has a sleek shape and includes a rear spoiler for stability. Accurate modeling of the air flow around the rear fin is important to determine the downforce generated while traveling at high speeds.

CENTAUR was used to create a hybrid mesh for the vehicle for CFD simulations. The hybrid grid has prisms in the boundary layer including layers around the rear fin, in the air intake and between the car and the road to properly model the viscous boundary layer flow. Tetrahedra were generated away from the car’s surface.
